Students are encouraged to think outside the box and draw outside the lines to create creative masterpieces.

At MoEd, we encourage the children to express their creativity through art and projects that include using recycled materials, painting, drawing, and other activities. We incorporate Jewish holidays and Hebrew into the art projects in order to enhance the children's Jewish knowledge and identity.

As part of our philosophy, we encourage our kids to get messy sometimes, to explore different materials and various mediums such as clay, splatter paint, finger paint, and glue. We also have arts and crafts projects that children work on in groups over a period of time.

Jewish Holidays

MoEd children don't just learn about the holidays; rather, they participate fully in them using all of their senses.

Inspiring children with Jewish holiday experiences.

At MoEd, we take the children on a journey through the seasons of the Jewish year, emphasizing the interrelationships of the seasons and Jewish holidays. For example, we connect winter to Hanukkah, and explore nature with Tu Bishvat. We also incorporate art, music, Hebrew language, cooking and other cultural activities as they relate to Jewish holidays throughout the year.

Moving. Acting. Signing. Laughing.

If you peek into a MoEd classroom, you will likely see the children moving. We incorporate full body experiences in our learning. We move like Jonah and the whale. We act out the ten plagues of Passover. We sing and dance to Israeli music. And we even have the children explore improv in teaching about holidays and Jewish stories.

Our son came home bursting with pride, couldn’t wait to teach his new Passover songs to his grandparents.

Food + Cooking

We bake. We cook. We eat. We enjoy.

Food is such an integral part of the Jewish experience, so we bring it into the classroom -- messy hands and all. Aside from offering the children a buffet of healthy snacks throughout day, we explore cooking and baking around Jewish holidays so that the children, for example, not only eat potato pancakes before Hanukkah, but they feel the oil on their hands, smell the frying pan, and hear the sizzling sounds.

We teach children a love for Israel.

Israel is a core element of the MoEd afterschool program. We not only teach the children where Israel is on the map, but Israel becomes the fabric of a tapestry of learning and storytelling in our classrooms. Our teachers focus on Israel as a homeland and as a part of Jewish identity. Combined with the immersive Hebrew language, Israeli culture, music, food, and art is interwoven into the MoEd curriculum.
